Spring cleanup in West Chicago

Snowmelt uncovers matted leaves, broken branches and tired beds. A spring cleanup clears it all out, trims shrubs, edges the lawn and pulls early weeds so the yard starts the season clean.

After the thaw

Clear out winter. Start fresh.

Snow hides a lot. Once it melts, most yards have leaves that blew in late, sticks and branches from winter storms, and beds full of last year's growth. Left alone, that layer slows the lawn's green-up and gives weeds an early head start. A thorough spring cleanup takes care of it in one pass.

We rake out dead leaves and debris, clean out flower beds, and trim shrubs that came through winter shaggy or uneven. The lawn gets a fresh edge along walks and beds, and we pull weeds that have already started. It's the kind of reset that makes everything you do for the rest of the season look better.

If you have an irrigation system, we'll also check it for freeze damage before you start running it for the season. A cracked line or broken head is much easier to deal with in April than in the middle of a dry July.

The cleaner the yard starts in spring, the easier it is to keep all season.

Know the signs

Signs it's time for spring cleanup

  • Matted leaves are showing

Leaves that came down after the last fall cleanup often sit on the lawn all winter. Raking them out lets light and air back to the grass.

  • Branches came down over winter

Ice and wind bring down limbs and twigs that end up scattered across the yard. Picking them up now protects the mower and the lawn.

  • Beds look tired and cluttered

Old stems, leaves and debris collect in beds over winter. Cleaning them out makes room for new growth and fresh mulch.

  • Shrubs look ragged

Winter can leave shrubs with broken or wayward branches. A light trim brings back their shape before they push new growth.

  • Weeds are already up

Early weeds are easiest to pull while they're small. Getting them now means fewer to deal with later.

The walkthrough Guillermo sent Elizabeth was out of town during the job, so the crew filmed the finished yard for her.

★★★★★

“Highly recommend Guillermo and his crew!”

Such a great experience, best communication, pricing, professionalism and quality of service we have ever had living in IL. Especially the west suburbs. I couldn't believe the excellent work this team did, especially after all the crazy storms recently. We were out of town when the work was done and Guillermo was nice enough to send me this thorough video of his work!

“Taken care of our lawn like it was his own.”

Jake has been our lawn guy for 3 months due to myself having surgery. Jake shows pure professionalism, and has taken care of our lawn like it was his own. Lots of pride in mowing, weed eating, and leaf blowing every time he tended to our lawn. If you're looking for a guarantee lawn service, then call Jake! Best prices, and service!

Spring cleanup FAQ

Questions, answered.

Something else? Call or text 630-746-4248.

When should I schedule a spring cleanup?

Once the snow is gone and the ground has firmed up enough to walk on without sinking. Working on soggy turf can damage it, so we watch conditions when we set the date.

Can you add mulch at the same time?

Yes, ask us about it. Spring cleanup is a natural time to refresh mulch, since the beds are already cleaned out and edged. We'll include it in your quote if you want it.

What does the irrigation check involve?

We look the system over for signs of freeze damage, such as cracked lines or broken heads, before you start running it for the season. If we find a problem, we'll tell you what we saw.

Is spring cleanup a one-time visit?

For most yards, yes. If you'd like regular care after that, ask us about weekly mowing and trimming for the season.

Can you deal with leaves that weren't cleaned up last fall?

Yes. Heavy leftover leaves are common, and we'll clear them as part of the cleanup. Let us know up front if there are a lot so we can plan for it.
