Local to St. Charles
Pride of the Fox, leaves and all
St. Charles calls itself the Pride of the Fox, and the river runs right through the middle of town. Downtown, the Arcada Theatre marquee has lit up Main Street since 1926. Around it, older neighborhoods on both sides of the river carry big, mature trees, while newer subdivisions farther out have younger plantings and open lawns. Both end up with leaves to clear in November.
Our crew rakes and blows leaves out of the lawn, beds and fence corners, then vacuums them into the covered box on our truck for hauling. Leaves left over winter smother turf and lead to mold and pests, especially on shaded lots. Fall cleanup also means picking up fallen branches, cutting back perennials and getting beds ready for cold weather.
Big trees bring their own work. We prune dead and overgrown branches, remove trees with specialized rigging, clear storm-damaged trees and grind stumps below ground level. Outside of fall we mow, edge, aerate, fertilize, mulch, plant, clean gutters and clear snow. Tell us what is going on at your property and we will outline the job in detail.
- 01
Mature trees near the river
Older streets near downtown have large shade trees that drop heavy leaf loads. Those yards usually need a second pass after the last leaves fall.
- 02
Dead limbs before winter
Dead or overhanging branches are easier to spot once the leaves are down. Fall is a good time to have them pruned before snow and ice add weight.
- 03
Newer lots on the edges
Subdivisions with young trees still collect leaves blown in from nearby yards and open space. They pile up against fences and foundations, where grass suffers most.
