Leaves off, lawn ready for winter
Carol Stream started as a planned community. Builder Jay Stream founded it and named it after his daughter Carol, and the village incorporated in 1959. Neighborhoods went in over the decades that followed, so the trees vary a lot from street to street. The earliest sections now have tall, full-grown trees, while newer subdivisions have younger trees and more open lawn for the wind to work across.
Both kinds of streets end up with leaves on the lawn. Under big trees it is a thick layer. On open lots it is drifts packed against fences, foundations and shrubs. Left there, leaves smother the grass and invite mold and pests. Our crew blows and rakes them out, vacuums them into the covered box on our truck and leaves the yard clean.
Fall cleanup also covers branches and debris, cutting back perennials and getting beds ready for winter with protective mulch. After that, think about snow. We clear driveways, walkways and parking lots for homes and businesses and treat icy spots. In the growing season we mow, edge, aerate, seed, fertilize and plant. Ask us about any of it.
- 01
Open lots, drifting leaves
Newer subdivisions with young trees get leaves from all over the neighborhood. They collect along fences and in window wells, so we clear the edges, not just the middle of the lawn.
- 02
Older streets, heavier canopy
The village's earliest neighborhoods have had decades for their trees to fill in. Those yards often need a second visit after the last leaves drop.

Homes and business lots
Carol Stream mixes neighborhoods with business parks. We clear snow and treat ice for both homes and businesses, so ask about winter when you book your fall cleanup.
