Bed renovation

Out with the old. Plant it right.

Foundation shrubs that were planted years ago often outgrow their space, block windows or thin out at the bottom. Sometimes the best fix is starting over. We remove old shrubs using a mini track loader for the heavy pulling, and clear the bed so it's ready for something new.

Choosing what goes back in matters as much as the planting. We'll help you pick shrubs and flowers suited to your soil, our climate and the look you want, thinking about how big they'll get, how much care they need and what they offer in each season, from spring blooms to fall color.

Then we do the planting right: soil preparation, proper planting depth and spacing, a thorough first watering and a layer of mulch to finish. Before we leave, we'll explain how to care for the new plants while they get established.

The right plant in the right spot saves years of fighting it.

Know the signs

Signs a bed needs new life

  • Shrubs have outgrown their space

Shrubs covering windows, crowding walks or pushing against siding are often past the point where trimming helps.

  • Plants are thin or dying back

Bare lower branches, dead sections and sparse growth usually mean a shrub is near the end of its useful life.

  • The bed has no shape

Beds that filled in over the years without a plan often look cluttered. A redesign gives them structure again.

  • Nothing blooms anymore

If the bed is all green and no color, adding flowering shrubs or perennials can bring back seasonal interest.

  • You're updating the house

New siding, a new walk or fresh paint is a natural moment to refresh the plantings that frame the house.

The walkthrough Guillermo sent Elizabeth was out of town during the job, so the crew filmed the finished yard for her.

★★★★★

“Highly recommend Guillermo and his crew!”

Such a great experience, best communication, pricing, professionalism and quality of service we have ever had living in IL. Especially the west suburbs. I couldn't believe the excellent work this team did, especially after all the crazy storms recently. We were out of town when the work was done and Guillermo was nice enough to send me this thorough video of his work!

“Taken care of our lawn like it was his own.”

Jake has been our lawn guy for 3 months due to myself having surgery. Jake shows pure professionalism, and has taken care of our lawn like it was his own. Lots of pride in mowing, weed eating, and leaf blowing every time he tended to our lawn. If you're looking for a guarantee lawn service, then call Jake! Best prices, and service!

Shrub & flower planting FAQ

Questions, answered.

Something else? Call or text 630-746-4248.

Can you remove large, old shrubs?

Yes. We use a mini track loader to pull out established shrubs that would be very hard to remove by hand. Send us photos and we'll let you know what's involved.

Do you help pick out plants?

Yes. We'll talk through your soil, how much sun the bed gets, how much upkeep you want and the look you're after, then suggest plants that fit.

How much watering will new plants need?

New plantings need regular water while their roots establish, more than established plants do. We give the first watering and explain what to do after that for your specific plants.

When is the best time to plant?

Spring and early fall are generally the best times for most shrubs and perennials, when temperatures are mild and roots can settle in. We'll talk through timing for the plants you choose.

Can you add a border to the new bed?

Ask us about adding edging or a stone bed border. A defined edge makes a newly planted bed look finished and helps keep the mulch where it belongs.
